Sonor SR Xylophone/Metallophone Rubber

SR Elasticated rubber for all ‘Sonor’ and ‘Studio 49’ classroom xylophones and metallophones. Sold by the metre.

A soprano or alto instrument uses 2 metres; a bass uses 3 metres. You may need upholstery tacks to attach the rubber inside the soundbox.

Can also be used on Suzuki and certain other makes of xylophones and metallophones. Please ask if you are in doubt.

The second photo shows the rubber on a soundbox with a figure-of-eight twist. This method should be used on all bass instruments to get the best resonance. Make sure you tension (stretch) the rubber slightly as you go along or else it will be too slack between the pins.
